Racing Pride Aston Martin Award for Diversity & Inclusion recognises Formula Student team
At the 2025 Formula Student Awards Ceremony, Racing Pride was excited to recognise the Formula Trinity team from Trinity College Dublin with this year’s Racing Pride Aston Martin Diversity & Inclusion award.
This award is open to applications from Formula Student teams who have worked to promote diversity and inclusion. This includes, but is not in any way limited to, inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community.
Teams are encouraged to reflect on how they can promote diversity and inclusion in their Formula Student work, whether through introducing welfare officers or training, highlighting their allyship through social media, hosting events and initiatives to promote diversity, or other projects which ultimately welcome people from all backgrounds to share in the Formula Student experience.
2025 marks the fourth year of this award, with past winners including Sheffield and Southampton. The prize for the award is supplied by Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, and was awarded at the Formula Student International Finals at Silverstone.
The Trinity College Dublin team were previously recognised with the inaugural award in 2022, therefore becoming its first repeat winners. They impressed the judges with their consistently excellent approach to diversity and inclusion across a number of years as well as their activities and innovations this year.
The judges particularly applauded the quality of their portfolio, including how the team benchmarked their performance against national STEM industry data. The team’s training and policies were comprehensive and integrated with their university’s inclusion efforts. Team members also conducted workshops to engage young people and broader society, with clear communication of their values, goals, and activities.
Members of the winning team enjoyed an exclusive visit to the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team at Silverstone, exploring the Technology Campus and learning about how a Formula 1 car is made.
The team had an expert tour of AMF1’s brand new, world-class facility. They were able to get hands on with car parts from sidepods to steering wheels, look inside Mission Control, and even encounter Adrian Newey! Before leaving, the team had the chance for a sit-down with engineers from different departments to inspire them on their journeys.
This year the judges highly commended the entries from Edinburgh University and TM Racing. Well done to the winning Trinity College Dublin team and the commended teams for their efforts.
