Upcoming: Motor Proud at Brooklands Museum
Racing Pride is hugely excited to be collaborating with Brooklands Museum to deliver Motor Proud – a first of its kind event championing LGBTQ+ inclusion at the site of the world’s oldest purpose built motor racing circuit. Taking place on Saturday 17 May, this event is part of the Brooklands Stories Uncovered project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Attendees can expect impressive motoring displays celebrating the diversity of motorsport’s past, present and future. Along with an exclusive Racing Pride members area, we’re looking forward to a fun-filled day of activities:
- Enjoy vehicle demonstrations including the impressive 1933 Napier-Railton and 1904 Siddeley ‘Daisy’.
- See incredible vehicles up close including an Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team show car! Other vehicles are set to include British Hillclimb Championship, British Rally Championship, and British Karting Championship machinery plus modern and classic luxury and supercars from the likes of Genesis and Bentley.
- Witness thrilling Test Hill ascents.
- Get involved with a Motorsport UK StreetCar demonstration – motorsport in your every day road car!
- Meet Jessica Hawkins and hear from Racing Pride Ambassadors and Community Champions, including Charlie Martin, Matt Bishop, Chloe Farkas and Georgia Rae.
- Join tours highlighting Brooklands’ LGBTQ+ history
- Celebrate inclusion with performances from the Surrey Rainbow choir, Don1 and Professor Maxim & Mercury
- Join Pride in STEM for a fun science-based workshop
- Storytelling, object handling and family crafts sessions will also be taking place throughout the day.
- Learn about diversity in motorsport, including the stories of figures from Roberta Cowell, Hugh Hunter to present-day role models.
- Find out how to start your own motorsport journey with the Motorsport UK Inclusion Hub.
Owners of pre-1995 classic vehicles are invited to display their vehicles against the backdrop of the historic Brooklands Museum and our collection. Modern sports and supercars are welcome too, the more colourful the better!
Public tickets can be purchased through the Brooklands website here. If you are a Racing Pride member or employee of one of our partners, please get in touch directly with the Racing Pride team.
