Racing Mentor shares motorsport sponsorship tips & careers advice with Racing Pride members

As part of a programme of events hosted on our Racing Pride Discord server, our members were treated to an exclusive discussion and Q&A with motorsport sponsorship guru Jess Shanahan, aka. Racing Mentor.

Jess has helped many amateur racers to craft their narratives and obtain sponsorship through her widely-acclaimed book Get Paid to Race, workshops at major shows and events, and her Racing Mentor community and courses. Jess shared her own journey and insights about motorsport sponsorship.

The event was hosted by our CEO, Richard Morris, who has built a career from karting through racing single-seaters and prototypes to GT cars across the UK and Europe, and our Community Engagement Officer Lucy, who brought a different perspective as a freelance creator.

Questions from our members ranged across a variety of topics from how to create a unique brand, to which companies to approach and how, how to arrive at a valuation for a partnership or a piece of freelance work, how to think of exciting ideas for activations which will stand out, and how to overcome the fear of rejection.

This event also marked the launch of a new channel within our Racing Pride Discord about motorsport sponsorship and careers, in which Jess and others will answer member questions going forward, providing a forum for members to share about their challenges and successes and to receive practical advice as they chase their ambitions.
