Racing Pride sponsors SilverSonix STEM Racing (formerly F1 in Schools) team
Racing Pride has taken its first steps into the world of STEM Racing (F1 in Schools) this year by sponsoring team SilverSonix, including attending the West Midlands Regionals round in support of the team.
STEM Racing is an educational competition designed to introduce students to STEM subjects through the creation of a miniature F1 car. Students also create a physical and online brand for their team as part of the competition. Teams of students from ages 9 to 19 come together to design, manufacture and race a miniature F1 racing car – collaborating across all areas from design and engineering, to marketing portfolios and project management.
The SilverSonix team are based at the Silverstone UTC, competing in the development class. The team is made up of GCSE aged students (16 years old). The team approached Racing Pride for support, demonstrating a real enthusiasm to promote our message of inclusion among their peers at the UTC and fellow teams within the competition. Our financial support enabled the team to compete and to look the part with a striking pit display and team shirts – both featuring the Racing Pride logo!
Some of the Racing Pride team members were even able to support the SilverSonix team during the West Midlands Regionals competition – we have been thoroughly impressed by their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication to their project!

We look forward to engaging with STEM Racing further in the future, encouraging LGBTQ+ inclusion and allyship among the huge number of young people who take part each year, with many of them looking towards careers in motorsport and its associated industries.
